Speed Texturing a Tactical Boot in Substance 3D Painter | Smart Material Workflow
I use my Tactical Fabric Smart Materials as a starting point for the fabric sections of the boot, then customize the materials directly inside Substance Painter to better match the asset.
This approach makes it possible to quickly establish realistic fabric structure, roughness variation, surface breakup, wear, and color before moving into more specific detailing.
The Tactical Fabric Smart Materials pack includes 33 customizable materials designed for tactical and military assets such as boots, uniforms, backpacks, pouches, protective equipment, and other game-ready gear.
The materials can be adjusted directly inside Substance 3D Painter, including:
• Fabric color
• Weave and surface details
• Roughness
• Wear and damage
• Material variation
• Individual Smart Material layers
The goal of this workflow is not just to apply a preset, but to use Smart Materials as a flexible base that can be quickly adapted to the specific asset.
